Lesley E. Weaver to Serve as Faculty in Duke Law School’s Mass-Tort MDL Certificate Program
BFA Partner Lesley E. Weaver will serve as course faculty for the upcoming Bolch Judicial Institute at Duke Law School’s online Mass-Tort MDL Certificate Program, scheduled for December 2024. This comprehensive program offers a survey of the fundamentals of multidistrict litigation (MDLs), equipping participants with practical insight into the lifecycle and management of complex aggregate litigation, which now constitutes nearly 60% of civil cases filed in federal court.
The course includes eight learning modules led by prominent judges, practitioners, and academics, presenting a balanced range of perspectives from both sides of the “v.” The program embodies the vision of the late Duke Law professor Francis McGovern, a pioneering figure in MDL law, who championed diversity in MDL leadership and sought to engage newcomers in the field of complex aggregate litigation. Participants will gain the subject matter knowledge needed to confidently engage in MDLs and pursue leadership roles within them.
